Current Since we'll probably still be wearing masks around Halloween, this is the perfect time to make a Darth Malgus costume. Definitely want to have fun, but of course also be safe.

When you're at work and end up in the bathroom with bloody diarrhea and you're like, "But I haven't even had Taco Bell this week!"

I'm so disappointed. I've been trying for over a week to see Comet NEOWISE, but there's always either something blocking it or there is too much light pollution. :(.

Bio

Hello, I'm Captain Manbeard, but you can call me Cap or Jeff. I'm 37 38 and have been RPing in some form for over twenty years. I'm a huge geek and otaku, and am currently reading the Dr. Stone manga. I also love video games, and am currently playing Final Fantasy XIV, Neverwinter, and TemTem. Just like most everyone else, I am totally psyched for Cyberpunk 2077 and plan to pre-order it for my PC, a gaming rig I built myself. Cyberpunk 2077 was a TOTAL disappointment, lol.

So far no new interest, I may post a new thread with some tweaks to my ideas to see if that draws in any extra players, but I don't know. I know we can continue on this one with just us three, but I was really hoping for a larger group to play with.
True, but I am really hoping we get at least one or two extra people, just to bring in a good balance of creative diversity :D.
Hmmmm. Wondering what we can do to garner more interest in this RP.
NOTE: I originally posted this in the Advanced section, but since there is not very much activity there, I decided to post it here as well to see if it generates any interest.

My growing love for the Disney+ show has brought me partially out of RP retirement (this is the only one I’m doing). I’m envisioning a plot loosely based on the show, as well as a handful of story arcs from the comics. A brief synopsis of what I’m imagining:

In the small town of Westview, New Jersey, a group of orphaned teens are living their best lives in the halls of Glimmerbrook Manor, a spacious mansion in the lap of luxury, surrounded by a sprawling estate of colorful gardens and a lake next to a small forest. They are cared for by their loving foster parents, Wanda Maximoff and Vision, as well as occasional visits from Aunt Agatha.

The teens are happy and healthy, but cannot seem to recall much of their lives before coming to Westview. They only remember being told they were special as young children, and that one day they would begin developing fantastical powers. That day – known to them as the Dawn of the Silver Sun – has finally arrived, and the orphans must learn to adjust to their new abilities.

But something feels… off. Gradually, they begin to unravel the truth about their lives, and the nature of the Hex that has been erected around the town...

Now, to dive a bit deeper into it. The characters feel like they’ve lived at Glimmerbrook Manor for years, but in reality, it’s only been days. Agatha Harkness kidnapped them all from their various homes around the world, killed their families, and brought them to Westview with Wanda and Vision’s dead body. This is all part of her grand plot to summon the Infinity Stones and resurrect Mephisto.

They have been brainwashed to forget their old lives, and being inside the Hex has awakened their dormant superpowers, which are tied to their ancient bloodlines – you see, their ancestors were the Guardians of the Infinity Stones. Agatha seeks to use that connection to summon the Stones, to compel Wanda to wield them for the resurrection spell so that any damage is diverted from her (Agatha), and then to “install” Mephisto’s soul into Vision’s body, since he can no longer possess a “living” host, which was part of the original spell that vanquished him.

I’ve developed an alternate history for this universe, as well as expanded the number of Infinity Stones to thirteen. This is to allow a larger number of characters, and each one can be descended from one of the Thirteen Guardians. Of those, myself, Crimson Flame, and King Kindred have claimed six Stones for our characters. Here they are:

King Kindred will be playing a fusion of Pulsar/Captain Marvel, who will be descended from the Guardian of the Spectrum Stone, as well a Wakandan princess who is descended from the Guardian of the Soul Stone. Additionally, he’ll be playing a version of Victor Mancha who comes from outside the Hex to aid the teens later on.

Crimson Flame will be playing versions of Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd, who along with Wanda are descended from the Guardian of the Reality Stone.

I’ll let them post their face claims and more information about their respective characters.

In addition to those mentioned here, I will be playing a handful of “NPCs” of sorts, including Wanda, Vision, Agatha, FBI Agent Frank Castle, S.W.O.R.D. Agent Maria Hill (formerly of S.H.I.E.L.D.) Mephisto, and a version of Ghost Rider who won’t debut till later, and several others as needed.

I’ll let the finer details of the overall plot unfold as we play, but below I’ll include a list of my versions of the Infinity Stones and what they do, as well as a timeline of events for this custom continuity, which henceforth will be dubbed the MCRU – Marvel Custom Roleplaying Universe.

Wow, that’s a lot of text! LOL. If you have any questions, please ask away, and discuss what characters you want to play! You can adapt any Marvel character or OC to be a descendant of the Guardians. Once we have at least one character for each Guardian, we’ll stop recruiting. In the event we get less, I’ll reduce the number of Infinity Stones to match whatever amount of characters we have.

Your powers don’t have to match your Stone exactly, they just have to be vaguely similar since your bloodline abilities were derived from generations of exposure to that particular Stone.
By simplify I mean take my giant wall of text and bring it down to like 3-5 paragraphs. Basically, I mean severely reducing the lore and background info so that new players only have to read a few paragraphs and are set to go. If they were interested in my current version of this RP, they'd be here in the Advanced section. Since they're not, I must assume they want a less intensive RP experience, lol.
If we do switch it to Casual, I will probably severely simplify the plot and edit the background information down to just a few paragraphs.
We could indeed change it to casual, but I don't know if I'll be able to keep it at that through my writing, lol.
I made a slight edit to the part about the astral projections since I realized that's not actually Aracely's powerset, lol. I instead reworded to say we all subconsciously worked together while we were sleeping.

Hey all, sorry I bailed on you. I had to reinstall Windows after my old drive crashed and lost all my active sign-ins on various websites. I couldn't remember my password for RP Guild at first and so I kept putting off resetting it and then time just kinda got away from me. Sorry for not saying anything for so long. That being said, I don't want to get your hopes up -- I am not returning to RPing anytime soon. Between work, sleep, gaming, and writing my novel, I don't have time to commit to an RP. I see Kindred started to move the story along, but then it looks like everyone lost interest. I really hope you all are able to keep the story going, or recreate it in a new thread :D.

The novel I'm writing follows a similar plot to my initial ideas for this RP, so if you need help formatting an overall narrative to continue, feel free to adapt parts of my novel for this RP: https://tapas.io/series/MalloryDane This has about 27.2k words currently and I upload new episodes on Tuesdays and Fridays, usually.

My novel is also a science fiction superhero tale about a group of interns and a rogue scientist who releases a prototype mutagen upon an unsuspecting Fourth of July crowd. The interns go on to form the League of Paragons, consisting of seven heroes: Captain Luminary, Blue Phoenix, Malachite-Man, Twilight Dragon, Revamp, Chromelander, and Velocinox. Midnight Rose and Kotsuzui the Bone Master are extra characters that aid them but have not officially joined the team yet, and Chromelander's twin sister -- who has been in a coma since the Fourth of July Incident -- has just awakened. I also have my own version of S.H.I.E.L.D. -- which I call B.E.A.C.O.N.: The Biotechnological Emergency Assessment & Containment Operations Network.

Anyway, again, sorry for being gone for so long, and while I won't be returning to RPing anytime soon, I will still try to check back periodically just to chat with you guys here in the OOC.
